Three questions for ...Supply Chain Act - overdue or superfluous?
The planned German Supply Chain Act makes companies more responsible if suppliers violate human rights and environmental standards. We asked the industry associations VDMA, VDW and ZVEI what exactly this means for industry and companies.
Dr. Wilfried Schäfer studied mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University, where he worked as a research assistant and subsequently as a group leader at the machine tool laboratory. He received his doctorate in 1993. As early as 1992, Dr. Schäfer joined the VDW as Head of Research and Technology, a position he held until 2001. From 1999 to 2001, he was Managing Director of the Research Association for Machine Tools and Manufacturing Technology (FWF). Between 2001 and 2007, he was Managing Director of PrintPromotion and worked for the VDMA Printing and Paper Technology and Security Systems associations, among others. Since 2008, he has been Managing Director of the VDW in Frankfurt am Main.
