The 'Special Prize for Digital Teaching and Learning', awarded for the first time on the fifth anniversary of the Cebit Innovation Award, goes to the developers of 'senseBox' from the University of Münster. This turns citizens into researchers in their own right. The technology kit equipped with sensors and mini-computers not only arouses interest in STEM subjects, programming, measuring and evaluating environmental data, but also supports research into the immediate living environment by using geodata-based measured values. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research will support the use of 'senseBox' sets at ten other schools across Germany in recognition of their educational merits.
