Schmersal - Heavy-duty switches for potentially explosive areas of application
Schmersal has extended existing switch series for heavy industry to include Ex variants. The emergency pull-wire switches of the EX-I-ZQ900 and EX-I-RS655 series as well as the belt-alignment switches of the EX-I-BS655 and EX-T.454 series can be operated in Zone 21 dust environments with type of protection Ex tb or in Zone 1 gas atmospheres with type of protection Ex ib. The EX-I-ZQ900 with single-sided action is used on machines and systems in potentially explosive atmospheres where it is necessary to trigger the E-STOP command at any point along the rope section. With a rope length of up to 75 m, it offers various contact combinations for safe shutdown and fast diagnostics.
The EX-I-RS655 with two-sided operation is ideal for long distances. It has a maximum cable length of 2 x 100 m and a central connection terminal. It is optionally available with an integrated 'DuplineSafe' interface for safe series connection including diagnostics. The Ex switchgear is designed in accordance with ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU and is IECEx-approved.
