Nowhere is industrial 3D printing more widespread than in Germany. The consulting firm Ernst & Young has now published further interesting details on additive manufacturing in a recent study.

Fear of contact with the still relatively new 3D printing technology: around 40% of companies cite the fact that the introduction costs are too high as an obstacle. 28% state that they do not have the necessary expertise within the company and just under 20% fear that the material and service costs will be too high. The conclusion for Kara from EOS: "Companies need massive support here to ensure that their own employees and budget are used effectively and efficiently. Appropriate advice can help avoid pitfalls. Choosing the right application has top priority. The focus here should be on the overall added value for the customer and not on the usually overrated approach of focusing on cost reductions."
