The CP20 power supplies from Puls are compact single-phase power supply units (24 V, 20 A) for DIN rail mounting. The power supply specialist is now expanding these with the CP20.248 version, which is equipped with a condition monitoring function: status information can be shown via the display on the front. A distinction is made between real-time information and recorded data.

The data that the DIN rail power supply unit provides in real time includes the input and output voltage, current, operating hours and temperature in the device; the recorded data provides information on the number of input-side transients, for example, as well as minimum and maximum voltage and temperature values and helps system operators to optimize reliability and identify the cause of any faults that occur. The display and data memory are not supplied by the power supply output. This means that the information can still be retrieved even if the power supply fails.

Two relay contacts for DC-OK and alarm signal are available for remote status monitoring. Two additional inputs can be used to switch the power supply to standby mode via remote ON/OFF and to implement automatic load sharing in parallel operation. The latter enables an optimized temperature balance between the parallel-connected power supplies, which can extend the service life.

The new version is also housed in the familiar CP20 housing. This measures 48 mm x 124 mm x 127 mm (WxHxD) and the efficiency is specified as 95.6 %. Due to the low power loss, less waste heat is generated and the air and creepage distances can be smaller. The CP10 DIN rail power supply unit (24V, 10A) with display will also be available shortly.

System availability ensured

Even if only one component fails, the entire machine or system can - in the worst case - come to a standstill, as their functions are usually closely interlinked. To prevent this worst-case scenario, every fault must be safely shut down.
