Flecs - Using the PLC like a smartphone
With its Flecs product, the company Flecs aims to automate the installation and updating of industrial apps on control systems. The marketplace through which the apps are available is only part of the overall solution. Flecs is essentially a communication layer that helps machine manufacturers to use precisely the software solutions that are required for their machines. The Service Mesh, for example, allows all apps in an application to talk to each other and exchange data. The solution can be installed on any PLC or standard hardware, regardless of the hardware. This allows PLC manufacturers to provide their customers with the modular software configuration they need. However, the solution is also suitable for retrofitting old machines as an edge device. The solution is completely open source. It is designed so that it can be set up on any Linux distributions and adaptations.
