In firmware version V4.8, the Sinamics S120 low-voltage inverters from Siemens can be combined with the "Simotics" synchronous reluctance motors. According to the manufacturer, this combination is particularly suitable for drive solutions in which the dynamics of asynchronous motors are no longer sufficient, but the performance of permanently excited synchronous motors is not required. These can be, for example, winders, extruders and servo pumps. In addition, the efficiency-optimized control, also for regenerative operation, enables applications in the regenerative sector. The synchronous reluctance motors offer optimized vector control, regenerative operation that has been revised in terms of energy efficiency and dynamics, as well as safety functionalities and technology functions. Profibus and Profinet interfaces enable integration into the "Totally Integrated Automation" automation environment.
