Rockwell Automation has added new products to its machine safety portfolio. The extended series of 'Allen-Bradley Compact GuardLogix 5380' controllers now meets the safety requirements from SIL 2/PLd to SIL 3/PLe. Rockwell Automation is also introducing new safety modules for the 'Flex 5000' and 'Compact 5000' I/O product ranges. Thanks to their significantly faster response times, technicians can position safety devices closer to the machines, reducing their footprint. The safety modules are TÜV-certified for use in safety applications up to SIL CL 3 and PLe/Cat. 4. The 'PowerFlex 755' and '755T' frequency inverters now have an optional module for integrated safety functions based on the DIN EN 61800-5-2 standard. The module monitors speed, direction and position and combines safety and standard control systems in a single Ethernet/IP network under one controller. In addition, the network safety solution offers zone control, whereby one section of the machine can be put into a safe state while the other sections continue to run.
