Spectra
Efficient Modbus gateways
According to the provider, this overcomes the limitations of conventional serial communication devices in terms of cable length. Within the series, a selection can be made regarding the number and combination of COM ports. As an option, Spectra 's gateways offer the so-called I/O pair connection (or serial tunnel). This function enables communication between two serial Modbus RTU/ASCII devices via the gateway's TCP/IP interface.
A feature of the series is the read cache function, which saves previous requests and responses in the module's memory buffer. If other HMI/SCADA master controllers send the same requests to the same RTU slave device, the cached response is returned immediately. This function significantly reduces the load on the RS485 bus, ensures fast response times and improves the stability of the entire system.
The tGW-700 (Non-T) series supports PoE (Power over Ethernet) in accordance with IEEE 802.3af (Class 1); the modules can therefore be supplied with power as a PD (Powered Device) via a PoE switch. If no PoE switch is available, the module can also be supplied with power via a DC power supply unit as an alternative. The operating temperature of -25 to +75 °C, the wide-range voltage input of 12 to 48 V(DC), the option of top-hat rail mounting and the compact form factor make the device series easy to integrate into existing systems.
