IIoT connectivity
Belden acquires Cloudrail
Belden, the global provider of network infrastructure and digitalization solutions, acquires Germany-based Industrial IoT (IIoT) specialist Cloudrail.
Cloudrail offers solutions for industrial customers to connect systems to cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure. According to a study by Capgemini, this can be achieved 5x faster than with traditional methods. In combination with a centralized device management system, Cloudrail has won several global enterprise customers from industries such as automotive, FMCG, aerospace or public infrastructure to securely connect and operate their IIoT installations.
While Belden already has a strong product portfolio in the areas of data collection, edge computing and security, the company says that the industrial automation market is seeing a significant shift from on-premise systems to the cloud. "Cloudrail literally connects the factory to the cloud. The company's founders recognized this trend early on and have established a unique leadership position. CloudRail complements our solutions portfolio by adding sensor data collection capabilities to our Belden HORIZON DataOperations Platform and fully supports the Belden Industrial EDGE strategy," said Brian Lieser, Executive Vice President at Belden.
"We have grown Cloudrail from a small startup to a position where we have become an integral part of the digitization strategy of many industrial customers worldwide. When we combine this with Belden's solution expertise and products in networking, edge compute and security, a new market leader in Industrial IoT emerges," says Felix Kollmar, co-founder and CEO of Cloudrail.
Cloudrail was founded in 2019 by Patrick Stoklasa and Felix Kollmar and is headquartered in Mannheim, Germany, with an office in Pune, India.
