With the family of self-configuring I/O modules from Bihl+Wiedemann, up to 16 digital signals can be used as inputs or outputs in any distribution. The first products available are the two ASi-5 modules BWU4230 and BWU4231 in protection class IP67, each with 16 I/Os.
Depending on the application, up to 16 digital inputs or outputs are possible, for example in the form of a connection of twelve distance sensors and four valves in a packaging machine. The modules do not need to be configured in advance for their use; a change of use can be implemented without additional software.
Thanks to channel-specific diagnostics, it is possible to individually detect an output short circuit or an overload of the sensor supply at each connection. The status of set digital outputs can be read via the cyclical feedback, allowing faults to be localized and rectified quickly.
In both modules, the inputs and outputs are supplied from AUX and the connection to the peripherals is made via eight five-pin M12 sockets. The BWU4230 is connected to ASi via profile cable, the BWU4231 via M12.
