© SiemensTogether, Siemens and Nvidia want to drive the transformation of the manufacturing industry through precise visualizations that connect design, manufacturing and operations. To achieve this, the companies are initially linking the open business platform Siemens Xcelerator with the 3D design and collaboration platform Nvidia Omniverse. According to the company, this will enable an industrial metaverse with physically supported, digital models from Siemens in combination with real-time AI from Nvidia. This should enable companies to make better and faster decisions.
The platforms
The Siemens Xcelerator platform links mechanical, electrical and software domains across the entire product and manufacturing process, enabling the convergence of IT and OT.
Nvidia Omniverse is an AI-enabled, physically simulated and industrial-grade virtual world engine that enables real-time, high-fidelity digital twins. Nvidia AI, which is used by more than 25,000 companies worldwide, is at the heart of Omniverse in the cloud and autonomous systems at the edge. The two platforms will be used to represent the comprehensive digital twin of Siemens Xcelerator.
The integration of Omniverse into the open Siemens Xcelerator ecosystem is intended to accelerate the use of digital twins and productivity and process improvements across the entire production and product lifecycle. It will enable industrial organizations of all sizes to deploy digital twins with real-time performance data, develop innovative industrial IoT solutions and leverage useful analytics insights from edge to cloud.
Easier access to visually complex and accurate simulations will make it possible to tackle the engineering challenges of tomorrow.
The companies on the in-depth partnership
Roland Busch, CEO of Siemens: "Photorealistic and physically supported digital twins, integrated into the industrial metaverse, offer enormous potential to transform economies and industries. It creates a virtual world in which people interact and collaborate to solve real-world challenges. By partnering with Nvidia, we will make the industrial metaverse a reality for companies of all sizes. For over a decade, our digital twin technology has helped customers across all industries increase their productivity. Today, we already offer the most comprehensive digital twin in the industry. By linking Siemens Xcelerator with Omniverse, we are now enabling an impressive real-time metaverse that connects hardware and software from edge to cloud with rich data from Siemens solutions."
Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia: "Siemens and Nvidia share a common vision of how the industrial metaverse will drive digital transformation. This is just the first step in our joint effort to realize this vision for our customers and the global manufacturing industry. Siemens Xcelerator will open up Nvidia Omniverse and the AI ecosystem to a whole new world of industrial automation based on the use of Siemens mechanical, electrical, software, IoT and edge solutions."
