Snap-in technology for terminal blocks

Weidmüller is expanding its Klippon Connect terminal block range to include the AS series with 'Snap In' technology. This allows flexible conductors to be wired quickly and without tools without the need for wire end ferrules.

With snap-in, the conductors are simply inserted into the connection point, whereupon the mechanism audibly snaps shut. According to the supplier, the snap-in technology ensures a secure and permanently reliable connection - even with increasingly automated wiring processes. AS terminal blocks are compatible with the Klippon Connect A series.

The snap-in connection belongs to the category of time-saving connection technology and, according to Weidmüller, is currently one of the fastest connections. The terminal blocks are supplied with a pre-tensioned spring so that the stripped conductor can simply be inserted into the terminal point without any further preparation. The conductor to be connected is contacted in the terminal point with a clearly audible 'click'. The triggered clamping point is also visually signaled by an increase in the pusher.

By actuating the pusher, the conductor can be released again at any time and the clamping point can be pretensioned for wiring. As soon as the conductor is inserted correctly and deep enough into the contact point, the clamping point is reliably released. The reliable contacting of the conductor guarantees a vibration-proof, gas-tight and long-term stable conductor connection. In addition to the audible 'click', a rise in the pusher indicates that the connection has been made securely. Thanks to the technology of the pre-tensioned clamping point, flexible conductors can be plugged in directly without a ferrule, without the need for a tool.

The AS series is suitable for robot-assisted assembly. Automatic assembly is possible as with the standard A series. The open terminal point of the AS series also enables robot-assisted, direct wiring. Users can use the standard accessories and the marking system of the A-series.

When developing the AS series, Weidmüller focused on the conductor cross-section range of ≤ 2.5 mm2. The snap-in contact of the terminals is designed for a maximum clampability range of 0.5 to 2.5 mm2. Further characteristics are: Rated voltage 800 V and a rated current of 24 A. The terminal blocks are snapped onto the TS 35 mounting rail.
