The core workforce is to be increased, additional jobs created and the range of apprenticeships and dual study programs expanded. This is what the majority of German machine and plant manufacturers want. However, there is a problem.
The expansion of mobile working is likely to lead to an increase in qualified applicants in the future. Digitalization will also create more jobs in companies: On a scale of 1 (no influence) to 10 (much greater choice of qualified applicants), the average response for mobile working was 6.9. Demographic change, on the other hand, is likely to lead to a decrease in the supply of jobs. According to HR managers, the advance of digitalization is likely to lead to a slight increase in jobs in mechanical and plant engineering.
