Absolute encoders for Industry 4.0

The WV3650M and WH3650M absolute rotary encoders from the second generation of Siko's 3 mm series are compact and, thanks to their new architecture, interfaces such as IO-Link and smart features, are a solution for Industry 4.0 machine concepts.

The two rotary encoders, which are available as either solid shaft or hollow shaft versions, can be designed with an SSI or IO-Link interface. The IO-Link interface is integrated according to the latest standard in version 1.1 in accordance with IEC 61131-9. The sensor transmits the information relevant to system availability, such as temperature, operating hours and other diagnostic data together with the position and speed values. The multi-turn version is gearless and battery-less and, depending on the version, can record over 16 million revolutions and therefore a range of 24 bits. Both encoder versions are robust. With a protection class of up to IP67, a temperature range of -40 to +85 °C and high shock and vibration resistance, they are suitable for industrial applications and factory automation, according to Siko.
