Variants for other fieldbus systems

Schmersal is launching two new versions of the 'Safety Fieldbox' on the market. This means that the box can not only be integrated into systems with Profinet/Profisafe as before, but is also available for Ethernet/IP with CIP Safety and Ethercat with FSoE.

The 'Safety Fieldbox' from Schmersal enables flexible safety solutions, failsafe and fast installation and, according to the supplier, a high level of process transparency. It allows the simple connection of up to eight safety switching devices via plug and play. The universal device interfaces for 8-pin M12 plugs can be used to connect a wide range of different safety switching devices such as electronic and electromechanical solenoid interlocks, sensors, control panels, light curtains or switches. Solenoid interlocks or safety light curtains only require one M12 slot, and control panels with an EMERGENCY STOP function and up to three non-safe control and signaling devices can also be connected. An integrated digital input at each device slot allows the diagnostic signals of all connected safety switching devices to be evaluated. This means that both the safety-related signals and the operational signals required for diagnostics, for example, are collected and transmitted. The user can use this information, for example, to detect irregularities such as a misalignment of the safety gate and thus enable early intervention in the event of servicing.
