IFS relies on Asset-based Pricing Models
IFS is introducing a new pricing model to simplify access to 'Industrial AI'. Instead of paying per user, companies will in future pay per asset operated, which will enable company-wide use without cost increases.
IFS, provider of industrial AI software, has introduced a new pricing model that replaces the previous practice of user-based licensing. In future, companies will pay according to the assets they operate or manage instead of the number of users.
For example, an energy company with 400 offshore turbines pays for these 400 assets, not for the 12,000 people or machines that need to access the data. The model links software costs directly to operational assets such as production facilities, infrastructure or components. This results in predictable costs that are in line with business operations and projects can be scaled without user limits.
Mark Moffat, CEO of IFS, says: "We don't want companies to limit themselves in terms of the number of users, we want them to use AI wherever they can create value. Companies should not have to choose between automating their processes and controlling software costs. We are eliminating this conflict of objectives with our new pricing model. We don't charge per employee - we charge for the work that is done."
The changeover is intended to facilitate the use of industrial AI in companies and link software investments directly to operational benefits. Analysts from IDC welcome the initiative and emphasize that asset-based models can give companies more flexibility and promote growth.
The new pricing is part of IFS' Industrial AI strategy and addresses the growing demand for scalable, enterprise-wide solutions without uncontrolled increases in cost per user.
