National winner of 'Jugend forscht 2019' chosen
Germany's best young researchers in the 54th national 'Jugend forscht' competition have been chosen. Artificial intelligence (AI) is playing an increasingly important role in the young talents' projects. The winners from the specialist areas and the special prize winners in a picture gallery.
"The appeal of the competition is unbroken," said Anja Karliczek, Federal Minister of Education and Research and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Jugend forscht Foundation at the finals kick-off. "More than 12,000 young talents have registered again this year." The motto of this year's competition round was "Ask yourself!". "The work submitted covers an impressive range of topics. 'Jugend forscht' shows impressively how many young people have clever ideas for the future issues of our society." The best 190 of these presented their research projects in the final round at Messe Chemnitz from May 16 to 19. Below are the winners from the fields of technology, mathematics/computer science, earth and space sciences, the world of work and physics:
This year's national final was organized by the Jugend forscht foundation in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology IWU and Siemens.
