Phoenix Contact is expanding the Radioline radio system based on "Trusted Wireless 2.0" technology with a radio module for the 868 MHz band. The radio module uses the license-free frequency band with a maximum transmission power of 500 mW and enables simple signal transmission of I/O signals and serial data, especially in outdoor applications where time is not critical and signals have to be transmitted over distances of up to 20 km. One feature of the wireless system is I/O mapping, in which the signals are distributed in the system without prior programming. The inputs and outputs are assigned with a turn of the knurled wheel, and each wireless station can be expanded modularly with up to 32 I/O expansion modules.
