Jugend forscht 2011, Nico Fleck, glass flask

Most reactions in chemistry are equilibrium reactions. Nico Fleck wanted to know how chemical equilibria can be specifically shifted in one direction. Using the example of the Finkelstein reaction, in which organic molecules combine with iodine, he investigated the influence of various catalysts and solvents. He was the national winner in the field of chemistry and won an invitation to a research camp in West Virginia, USA.
