The BWU3160 CIP Safety via Sercos gateway from Bihl+Wiedemann can safely control and monitor safe drives with a CIP Safety connection as a CIP Safety Originator, without an additional higher-level safe control system. The drives are controlled as usual by the standard controller, while the gateway takes over the safe part and switches the drives off safely in case of doubt. Safety gateways are also available for combination with a Safe PLC (F-CPU) - Profisafe via Profibus, Profisafe via Profinet and CIP Safety via Ethernet/IP. The AS-i safety gateway 'CIP Safety via Sercos' enables the safe control of drives with an integrated speed monitor and safe fieldbus connection. It offers simplified handling and reduced hardware and installation costs thanks to the integration of drive, peripherals and safety bus as well as standard Ethernet in a single network. Applications are possible up to SIL 3/ Cat. 4/ PLe. The device has three 2-channel safe inputs and can be expanded with up to 62 two-channel safe inputs. Six independent safe outputs are available in the device, expandable to a maximum of 64 independent safe outputs.
