Schneider Electric has added functions and software updates to the SoMachine automation platform for Modicon series PLC systems, Magelis operator terminals and Altivar frequency inverters with integrated PLC functionality. The FFB Finder gives users quick access to functions and function blocks in SoMachine. The search function also includes a description of the function blocks found. When a new control project is created, programmers can access ready-made projects with a basic configuration as well as prepared architectures in the improved graphical user interface, which are stored with complete documentation and applications. The templates contain, for example, wiring diagrams for connecting a drive controller or basic designs for bus systems, HMIs (Human Machine Interface) and frequency inverters. TVDAs (Tested, Validated and Documented Architecture) serve as example projects. The CNC editor has been expanded to include a visualization component. After entering the keycode, it shows in a 2D/3D graphic which curves and movements the control system triggers in the subsequent application of the system. Changes to the movement profile can be made manually in the graphic or numerically via the keycode, and the control system then passes this information directly to the machine's drive controller. An update of the HMI interface brings with it the integration of VijeoDesigner 6.0 and thus a larger selection of touch panels.
