Largest single investment in the company's history
The Lapp Group is planning a comprehensive expansion and modernization of its logistics center in Ludwigsburg, close to the A8 motorway. This will be the largest single investment in the company's history.
"Ludwigsburg will be the hub of our logistics operations throughout Europe, with an investment in the high double-digit million range. A clear commitment to Germany and the Stuttgart region," says Matthias Lapp, CEO of the Lapp Group. As part of the large-scale project, new halls will be built on the existing site, and the entire layout will be fundamentally optimized and the level of automation significantly increased. The construction work is due to be completed in 2026.
The expansion in Ludwigsburg will have an impact on the Lapp Group's oldest logistics center in Stuttgart-Möhringen, just 30 km away. This has been in operation for 50 years and the three-storey building no longer meets the logistical challenges of today. For this reason, the old logistics center is to be completely relocated to Ludwigsburg once the construction work has been completed. Lapp expects to be able to offer all of its current 110 permanent employees a job in Ludwigsburg. "They can expect a modern and ergonomic working environment there. Increased automation will eliminate many manual and physically demanding tasks, but there will still be enough work thanks to our growth," explains Matthias Lapp.
There will be alternatives for employees who do not wish to move to Ludwigsburg, such as further training opportunities or a transfer to other Lapp companies.
