Wireless gas density sensor

Wika supports the digitalization of gas-insulated switchgear with the 'Type GD-20-W' gas density sensor.

According to Wika, the wireless device with integrated battery and radio module can be easily integrated into IIoT environments. The sensor transmits the measured values for gas density, temperature and pressure via the Lorawan network protocol. The device has an alarm function for the three parameters as well as for the battery status, which signals when a limit value is reached regardless of the preset transmission cycle. As a compact wireless device, the sensor is suitable for retrofitting existing systems that are operated with SF6 gas or alternative insulating gases. It calculates the gas density from the pressure and temperature values and measures the pressure at 20 °C with an accuracy of ±0.2 %. The device continuously monitors the gas density and thus enables demand-driven system maintenance.
