Sick
Award for sustainability management
Sick has been awarded a platinum medal in the EcoVadis sustainability ranking. This puts the provider of sensor-based automation solutions in the top 1 percent of more than 130,000 companies worldwide that have been assessed over the past twelve months.
EcoVadis is a rating provider in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and relies on a transparent and independent review and evaluation of the sustainability management of participating companies. Sick achieved 86 out of 100 points in its sustainability rating and, with the platinum award, is among the top 1 percent of all companies assessed worldwide. Every year, a total of 21 sustainability criteria are assessed in four core areas: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. With an increase of 36 percent, Sick was able to significantly improve its result compared to the previous year, moving up from silver to platinum. With 90 out of a possible 100 points, the 'Environment' and 'Labor & Human Rights' categories scored particularly well. The company was also able to increase its score to 80 points in the 'Ethics' and 'Sustainable procurement' categories. Sick has been taking part in the annual EcoVadis assessments since 2013.
Sick attaches great importance to continuous development in the areas of environmental sustainability, social sustainability and governance. Through internal audits, international environmental, climate and occupational health and safety certifications and the annual EcoVadis assessment, the company ensures that ambitious sustainability targets are set, calculations are checked and a risk assessment is carried out.
"We are delighted to receive the platinum award from EcoVadis. It is proof that we are focusing on transparent sustainability reporting, taking responsibility for our corporate actions and making significant progress in implementing our ESG strategy," says Nicole Kurek, member of the Sick Management Board and responsible for 'People & Culture'. "For our customers worldwide, the EcoVadis rating is an important factor in placing their trust in the company's sustainability management and our automation solutions and using them to achieve their own sustainability goals."
EcoVadis' sustainability ratings are based on international sustainability standards such as the ten principles of the UN Global Compact, the conventions of the International Labor Organization (ILO), the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and ISO 26000. The ratings provide a sound analysis of corporate performance and enable practical action plans for continuous improvement.
