Inka Krischke,

Baumer is launching what it claims is the world's shortest ultrasonic sensor in size M12. The round housing of the 'UR12' is just 50 mm long.

The blind zone is 15 mm small and the response time is up to 16 ms. According to the manufacturer, this gives designers more scope for space-saving machine designs. The maximum detection range is 500 mm, for one-way barriers 1000 mm. The sensor adds another model in the miniature class to Baumer 's portfolio for object detection, distance measurement and fill level measurement. It is equipped with an IO-Link interface as standard for easy integration and to provide useful additional data. Extended functions include, for example, an adjustable sound beam or disruption filter to suppress agitators in level applications, for example. The retrofit version for distance measurement is available without IO-Link. Thanks to compatible connections, old M12 sensors can be easily replaced with the UR12.
