The certification document confirms that Pepperl+Fuchs, as a manufacturer of products and solutions for automation, has implemented the necessary cybersecurity measures to ensure a state-of-the-art development process for cybersecure products. The assessment, which consists of a total of 47 IEC 62443-4-1 requirements, systematically covers the entire product life cycle - from the definition of the product, its realization and testing to its application and the handling of subsequently discovered security vulnerabilities of products or components used in them.

"The comprehensive audit by TÜV Süd confirms that system integrators and plant operators receive components from Pepperl+Fuchs that fully comply with the security-by-design principle," explains Günter Gabriel, Director Global Compliance at Pepperl+Fuchs. Marcello Walz, Head of Advanced Manufacturing at TÜV Süd, adds: "At the same time, Pepperl+Fuchs is already meeting the upcoming regulatory requirements of the European Cyber Resilience Act and, thanks to this certification, is optimally prepared for the demanding compliance requirements for automation solutions over their entire life cycle."

The company has been proactively communicating discovered security vulnerabilities in its products on its website since 2015 and is actively involved in cert@VDE, the first platform to support small and medium-sized companies in Germany with IT security issues. In August 2023, Pepperl+Fuchs was also certified according to ISO 27000 by TÜV Süd: This standard with an IT focus complements the IEC 62443 series of standards in terms of content and confirms that Pepperl+Fuchs has established an Information Security Management System (ISMS) that protects the company's information, data and systems.
