All of the companies surveyed have security measures in place: They use technical IT security precautions across the board, such as virus scanners and firewalls. However, according to Bitkom, these are no longer sufficient in many cases. Nine out of ten companies take organizational security measures - such as behavioral guidelines for the use of data carriers. 86% provide physical protection - for example in the form of access controls or securing buildings. Only half of the companies take personnel security measures - even though most of the perpetrators are current or former employees. In practice, these measures include training, but also security checks of employees or applicants.
