This is where Flecs and Wibu-Systemes come in: The Flecs Marketplace automates the sourcing and purchasing process of products from offer to sale, the "Software Activation Wizard" app and the CodeMeter app ensure secure license management that prevents pirated copies and facilitates the transfer of licenses to devices.

The process in detail

The CodeMeter Protection Suite provided by Wibu-Systems offers tools for licensing applications and protecting them from manipulation and piracy. An application is often divided into individual modules and coded differently, which then only run with the appropriate valid license. This technology is suitable for applications developed in various programming languages and frameworks, such as .NET, nodeJS, Python and all languages that generate machine code, such as C, C++ and Go. App developers who already use their own CodeMeter infrastructure can enter this in the license manifest. If they do not have their own CodeMeter infrastructure or if app developers want to separate their own infrastructure from the marketplace, they can use an infrastructure provided by Wibu-Systems specifically for the Flecs Marketplace.

The process is as follows: The protected app and the license manifest are published in the Flecs Marketplace by the app provider. Prices, app description as well as informative graphics and screenshots are stored. If the integrated CodeMeter infrastructure is used in the marketplace, an article is automatically created in the marketplace's "CodeMeter License Central". The Flecs marketplace ensures fully automated purchase processing. Depending on the license manifest, the marketplace communicates with the connected CodeMeter License Central, which then generates a license in the form of an activation code. This is delivered to the user together with the app. After purchase, the app is installed on the device, as are the CodeMeter app and the "Software Activation Wizard" app. The latter makes it easier to transfer the license to the device using the activation code. The license configuration can also allow the license to be transferred to another device or reactivated in the event of loss. The Software Activation Wizard ensures transparent and automated use for license activations or subscription renewals, while CodeMeter ensures license management and prevents misuse such as device cloning.
