HMS Industrial Networks takes over eWON
The Swedish company HMS Industrial Networks has signed an agreement to acquire the Belgian company eWON. The latter is a player in the IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) and offers intelligent, internet-based remote maintenance solutions.
The company eWON was founded in 2001. The headquarters are located in Nivelles, Belgium. With offices in the USA and Japan, eWON provides communication products and services for industrial applications such as remote access to programmable logic controllers, data acquisition applications and cloud-based connectivity solutions. The company employs 57 people and has a global sales network with distributors in 45 countries. In Germany, the products are distributed by Wachendorff.
"We see great opportunities in accessing HMS ' established development organization and sales channels to further strengthen our business and position in the fast-growing market of Industry 4.0 and Industrial IoT," says Serge Bassem, CEO and co-founder of eWON. Staffan Dahlström, CEO of HMS Networks, has a similar view: "eWON's products are ideal additions to the HMS product range - especially in the market segment of remote access to PLCs, where a secure 'data tunnel' is created between a software application and a remote machine." According to Michael Volz, Managing Director of the German branch of HMS Industrial Networks, Wachendorff will continue to distribute the eWON products in the future and thus ideally complement HMS's direct sales activities. Similar constellations also exist in other countries.
Serge Bassem and Pierre Crokaert, CEO and CTO respectively at eWON, will continue to lead the company in their current positions. The two company founders will also become two of the ten largest shareholders in HMS Networks, the parent company of HMS Industrial Networks, as a result of the transaction. In 2014, the company, which is listed on the Nordic stock exchange Nasdaq OMX in Stockholm and has over 370 employees, generated sales of around EUR 60 million.
