Hilscher
Ultra-compact communication module
With the 'netRapid 90', Hilscher is expanding its chip carrier portfolio for industrial communication of highly integrated field devices.
The embedded module from Hilscher is based on the netX-90 SoC developed in-house and is delivered pre-tested and pre-loaded with the required protocol stack. It acts as a device interface and can be used directly. The multi-protocol-capable embedded module supports fieldbus, real-time Ethernet and IIoT protocols in one design. It is soldered onto the motherboard like a standard QFP component. With its size of 15 mm x 32 mm and the extended temperature range, it is also suitable for small sensors or robotic components. According to the manufacturer, the energy-efficient module has low power dissipation and is currently available for Profinet, Ethercat, Ethernet/IP, Profibus and Devicenet. Field devices can also be connected to the cloud by combining Profinet or Ethernet/IP with an OPC UA server. An additional Cortex M4 application processor and memory modules in various configurations enable efficient customization. In the coming months, the provider will successively expand the netRapid 90 to include further protocol variants.
