Texas Instruments and Kunbus cooperate
Protocol stack for Sitara processors
Making Sitara processors fit for industrial communication: This is the aim of the cooperation between semiconductor manufacturer Texas Instruments (TI) and Kunbus.
As part of the cooperation, Kunbus will equip TI 's Sitara series communication processors with all relevant fieldbus and industrial Ethernet protocol stacks. This will enable customers to integrate their devices into different industrial networks such as Profinet or EtherNet/IP with just a single communication chip. It also gives them the opportunity to get everything from a single source: Consulting, design-in, software and hardware development including certifications through to complete production. In addition to the project business, Kunbus will also offer development toolkits for self-implementation of the protocols on the Sitara processors.
From mid-May, Kunbus will launch the Profinet IRT slave stack as the first stack for the Sitara. Master and slave stacks for the EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT and Profibus network protocols will then follow by the end of 2018.
"I am convinced that both companies will benefit from each other's expertise and can thus actively shape the future of industrial communication," comments Dr. Martin Kunschert, Managing Director and owner of Kunbus.
