New series of unmanaged switches
Weidmüller is launching new unmanaged switches with the name 'EcoLine Series B'. Enhanced functions such as Quality of Service and Broadcast Storm Protection are technical highlights.
Weidmüller 's switch series supports 'Quality of Service', a function that prioritizes data traffic and regulates the priority between different applications and services. This ensures that business-critical applications are always executed with the required priority. Less important tasks are automatically given lower priority. By using this principle, the switches fulfill Profinet Conformance Class A and can therefore be used in industrial real-time networks such as Profinet.
The switches also protect the network against 'broadcast storms', where a faulty device or application sends a flood of broadcast messages that can cause the system to collapse. The 'Broadcast Storm Protection' (BSP) function detects floods of messages and automatically limits them in order to maintain network integrity. This prevents potential network outages and stabilizes data traffic.
According to the manufacturer, the revised technology of the EcoLine Series B enables a particularly small design of the new devices. The narrow dimensions of the housings fit into confined spaces. The 90° rotatable locking foot enables both horizontal and vertical installation in the switch cabinet. The industrial metal housing makes the switches robust, so that they are protected against shocks, vibrations and other environmental influences.
