'New mirror technology for attosecond flashes': The picture shows laser physicist Martin Gorjan in the laser center 'LEX photonics' (Laboratory for Extreme Photonics) on the Garching campus near Munich. The physicists there are working on new laser light sources to generate very short attosecond flashes of light. These can be used to observe electrons in the microcosm. This gives the researchers insights into the course of elementary processes in nature for the first time.
