'Light is energy! The photo by Christian Lünig shows fiber optic cables based on plastic fibers in an activated state. Optical fibers are considered the state-of-the-art answer to expensive and interference-prone conventional transmission technologies. Neither interference radiation, mass problems, distance losses nor limited transmission rates occur. According to Lünig, in combination with the existing and still to be expanded electricity grid infrastructure, this results in an interesting future option for many areas of application.
