Paul Kutzer (18) from Regensburg was the national winner in the field of technology. His robot works on Sudokus. It is "fed" the number puzzles in printed form and solves them as if on an assembly line - no matter how difficult they are. A camera captures the given numbers and identifies them using pattern recognition. Kutzer's solution software is then activated: it comprises two algorithms, the second of which comes into play if the first fails. Scanning and calculation only take a fraction of a second. The robot then enters the solution numbers in the empty fields of the Sudoku sheet. For this purpose, the young researcher created a construction that is reminiscent of a plotter and has an integrated pen.
