In contrast, Willi Zschiebsch from Plagwitz near Leipzig is using a model from nature with over a hundred feet: he has developed a prototype robot that is modeled on a dog's feet. It is designed to combine the advantages of a worm robot and a walking machine. The electronic helper is able to cross obstacles such as wall sections, small ravines and narrow crevices. This feature is particularly useful in disaster areas. Zschiebsch devoted himself not only to the design but also to the programming. The result clearly outshines its predecessor.
