The Scalance XM-400 expands the portfolio of Industrial Ethernet switches from Siemens. The new product line comprises two basic devices for connecting up to 16 (Scalance XM416-4C) or eight (Scalance XM408-8C) network devices such as controllers from the Simatic family. Both devices have electrical RJ45 ports and optical SFP slots designed for bandwidths of 1 GBit/s. Siemens also offers tool-free plug-in port extenders that expand the basic devices with additional connections for up to 24 network users. An optionally available key plug also enables layer 3 functionalities such as static and dynamic routing and allows configuration data to be saved. For convenient network diagnostics of the switches via a web browser (web-based management), the IP address of the respective device can be read out on site via NFC (Near Field Communication).
