Siemens is expanding its Simocode pro motor management system with a new series of entry-level devices. Simocode pro S' offers frequently required protection, control and monitoring functions in a basic device and an optional multifunction module. In addition to simple control functions such as direct and reversing start, the basic device with a width of 22.5 millimetres also includes protective functions such as thermistor and overload. It has four digital inputs and two relay outputs. Simocode pro S also monitors current limit values, operating data and system downtimes. Communication with higher-level control systems takes place via the integrated communication interface for Profibus. The associated multifunction module expands the basic device with four additional digital inputs for connections with 24V or 110-240V as well as two relay outputs. It also offers additional control functions such as soft or star-delta start and enables the connection of a residual current transformer for measuring the earth fault current and a temperature sensor.
