Promicon has added devices for Industrial Ethernet to its CompactMotion controller series. The servo controllers are available with Profinet or Ethercat and include an integrated Ethernet switch for implementing a series topology. Direct operation via the TCP/IP protocol is also possible. The connection was realized with an ARM-based 'netX' processor. Alternatively, the devices are available for Profibus and CANopen or can communicate via an RS232 interface. Parameterization and programming is carried out via a USB interface. Ready-made program blocks and functions are available for connection to commercially available control systems, which can be supplemented or extended by the user as required. The functional elements run in the servo controller; no additional software needs to be installed in the controller. AC servo motors, linear motors and direct drives from various suppliers can be connected to the controllers. The servo controllers are available in different versions with a continuous current of up to 24 A. Connection to 1-phase and 3-phase networks is made via a wide-range input.
