Stemmer uses a line scan camera to sort the color of tennis balls that fall in quick succession. Based on the color detected, three valves are controlled to deflect the trajectory of the tennis balls into the respective containers with short bursts of air. Given the small distance (approx. 6 cm) between the measuring range of the line scan camera and the air nozzles, color detection must be completed in less than 2 ms.
