In addition to the 'Logo!-8' logic module series from Siemens, Automation24 also offers the 'CMR2020' communication module. It enables monitoring and remote control of connected logic modules via cell phone, their position determination and position tracking via GPS as well as worldwide time synchronization. Via the integrated Ethernet interface, the 'Logo!-8-CMR' module enables the user to connect his 'Logo!-8' controller to the GSM/GPRS network and from then on to control it by SMS via cell phone or to receive alarms and status data. After inserting a SIM card, the communication module can be reached as a subscriber in the mobile phone network. Users can then configure various commands in the connected control unit for remote access and then trigger them by SMS via the communication module. The text messages to the control unit are protected by a password. Conversely, the module sends diagnostic data and alarms as text messages to the cell phones previously defined as recipients. The connected modules can also be time-synchronized based on the time information from the mobile phone provider or the GPS signal. Thanks to two digital inputs and two digital outputs, the module can also be used as a stand-alone device for simple control tasks.
