Quadrocopter with virtual crumple zone
Michael Stark (19, left) and Maximilian Reif (18, right) have designed and built a quadrocopter from scratch. The special feature of their 'safecopter' is the software: it independently protects against collisions and pilot error. The two developers see potential applications for their particularly safe aircraft in aerial photography or for inspecting wind turbines and solar plants. They won the national prize in the technology category.
