The intelligent six-axis articulated robot 'Roberta' from Gomtec in Seefeld near Munich came third in the 'Service Robotics Masters' product award. At 19.5 kg, the industrial robot is a lightweight and can be customized in terms of loads and reach thanks to its modular design. Roberta's optimum payload/own weight ratio was made possible above all by the new drive. The heart of this drive is an extremely weight- and performance-optimized servomotor. In addition to the high-resolution resolver technology, joint electronics are installed which, in addition to communication, also controls the performance of the motor and safety brake in an energy-saving manner. 'Roberta' is supplied with an integrated RoboCommander as standard, which can be used to control the orientation of the gripper in up to six degrees of freedom.
