New generation of Ixarc encoders from Fraba
© Fraba
Posital is the first manufacturer to implement the standard performance data of optical absolute encoders in magnetic systems. The new generation of IXARC encoders is based on Hall sensors whose analog output signals are processed by a separate, powerful 32-bit microcontroller - this offers comprehensive features for real-time data evaluation. Specially developed signal processing software supports both high precision and dynamics: the encoders achieve an accuracy of 12 bits (<0.1°) with a resolution of up to 16 bits and latency times of a few microseconds. The revolution count is performed using a Wiegand effect-based energy harvesting system, which obtains the necessary energy from the rotating magnetic field. This opens up new possibilities for users in automation technology, especially where powerful and robust solutions with a small footprint are required. The underlying measuring principle of the magnetic encoders enables an extremely compact design that can withstand even difficult environments without any problems. As they do not require gears or batteries, the devices are also maintenance-free, durable and insensitive to shocks or vibrations. The new IXARC magnetic encoders are available with diameters from 36 mm and with protection ratings up to IP69K. They are suitable for an extended temperature range of -40 to +85 °C.
