WEG is expanding its W22X series of explosion-proof motors to include IEC size 800 for medium and high-voltage applications. The four-pole version of the W22X 800 has an excellent efficiency of 97.4 % at full load and a voltage of 6.6 kV, for example. This efficiency is achieved, among other things, by a special stainless steel tube cooling system to optimize the air flow. The motors are designed in a bending-resistant steel housing and are available in 2-, 4-, 6- and 8-pole versions - with higher poles on request - at frequencies of 50 and 60 Hz. It was designed as a series motor with optional modules and has ATEX and IEC Ex certifications for the Ex d(e) IIB T4 Gb area. More are to follow.
