Jugend forscht 2011, Daniel Weiß, MIG welding electrode
© Stiftung Jugend forscht e.V.
Daniel Weiß won the first prize in the field of the working world and an invitation to the Nobel Prize ceremony in Stockholm for a welding head he developed. The special feature: the electrode in the welding head is set in permanent rotation by an electric motor. In this way, the trained mechatronics engineer prevents the electrode from welding on contact between the workpiece and the electrode.
