The RSS 16 safety switching device from Schmersal has the same dimensions as the familiar AZ 16 safety switch. The target is identified contactlessly using RSS technology: a safety-enhanced RFID signal handles communication between the transmitter and receiver. The user can choose between three different coding variants. The target can be approached from three sides - this allows flexibility when integrating it into the surrounding structure. The safety sensor can be used as a magnetic stop so that the designer can dispense with a separate stop with detent. The connection compartment provides flexibility during installation. Performance level e in accordance with EN 13849 is also achieved and the serial diagnostic function provides operational information that can be used for diagnostic purposes. The elimination of mechanical actuating elements means there are no interfering contours that are difficult to clean.
