The use of type A residual current devices (RCDs) is an important part of the infrastructure in the field of electromobility. However, these are not designed for DC residual currents that can occur when charging electric vehicles. For charging mode 2, the residual current monitoring module 'RCMB121-1' from Bender is now available as a solution for use in a charging cable (IC-CPD). This allows both DC residual currents and pulsating AC residual currents to be detected and evaluated. This makes charging electric cars even safer - with significantly lower costs for safety measures. Bender received the eCarTec Award 2015 in the 'Energy Infrastructure & Storage' category for this product.
