The evaluation of Profisafe encoders in F control systems was previously not very convenient due to the limitation of the control systems to a maximum of 16-bit values: with measuring ranges of more than 65,536 steps, the position value had to be split into two words and these had to be evaluated separately. The Profinet-based Profisafe TRT/S3 encoder from TWK-Elektronik uses the option of Step7 Safety Advance (TIA Portal) to also process double words in the safety program. When ordered with code type 'D', the encoder sends the safe position value as a 32-bit value, which can then be used as one value in the F program. In addition to the safe position value, the SIL2-certified encoder also provides a safe speed value. Position and speed detection can be adapted to the application via Profinet. The encoders are available in either aluminum or stainless steel with protection classes up to IP69K. The electrical connection is made via a plug or cable output.
